San Diego says 'no issues' with ballot collection in video questioned online

Millions of Californians use secure drop boxes to return their mail ballots -- and social media users are casting doubt on the voting method by claiming a video shows election workers mishandling materials during the 2026 US midterms and transporting them in unmarked vans with out-of-state license plates. But the San Diego Registrar of Voters said it is standard practice to rent vehicles in support of election operations and that proper chain-of-custody rules were observed in the moment caught on camera.
