Video from Myanmar misrepresented as armed faction in Bangladesh

As access to a popular tourist destination in Bangladesh's northern Chittagong Hill Tracts region was suspended over security concerns in October 2026, a video was shared in posts falsely claiming it showed an armed faction active in the region cleaning their weapons. The video had in fact previously been shared by Myanmar's Kyaukse Revolution Army weeks before the blockade in Bangladesh, and a member of the Myanmar group told AFP they only operate in the Southeast Asian country.
