Prosecutors Seek 30 Years for Taipei Teacher Accused of Child Abuse

A teacher is accused of sexually assaulting at least 38 children over a 16-year period and filming some of the alleged abuse. He's been fired, permanently barred from teaching and fined more than US$400,000. Prosecutors are seeking a 30-year prison sentence. The case has intensified public concern about child protection and school safety in Taiwan. Child abuse prevention and student safety have since become major issues in Taipei’s November mayoral election.
