Taipei Mayoral Candidates Draw Ballot Numbers Ahead of Debate

The race for Taipei mayor is entering its final stretch with just over a month to go before election day. On Tuesday, campaign representatives drew the official ballot numbers for the candidates. A day earlier, incumbent Chiang Wan-an of the Kuomintang formally launched his campaign headquarters in front of thousands of supporters and backed by Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu as he prepares to make his pitch for a second four-year term in a televised debate later this week. Meanwhile, Democratic Progressive Party candidate Puma Shen launched a specialized female-focused campaign office alongside Vice President Bi-khim Hsiao, emphasizing a focus on policy and maintaining a "vigilant and cautious" approach as he hopes to become the first DPP mayor of Taipei since Chen Shui-bian in the 1990s.
