Taiwan Closes Representative Office in Papua New Guinea

Taiwan’s foreign ministry says it will close its representative office in Papua New Guinea, months after Papua New Guinea’s foreign minister said his government had unilaterally decided to shut it down. Taipei says it is now proactively ending the office’s operations. Taiwan also announced it would stop importing liquefied natural gas from Papua New Guinea and end cooperation and aid programs.
