AI-generated audio misrepresented as Indian general's criticism over border spat with China

After an Indian official accused China of "challenging" India's claims along parts of the neighbour's disputed border in October 2026, a video dubbed with an AI-generated soundtrack circulated online with a false claim it showed an Indian army general criticising New Delhi's response to the incident. AFP found the footage is in fact taken from a press conference years ago when he commented on a different incident, while an AI detection tool has flagged the audio as synthetic content.
