Old footage of attack on Bulgarian politician misrepresented as Netanyahu assassination attempt

After inconclusive October 2026 general elections in Israel, in which neither the ruling nor the opposition parties gained a majority, a video circulated on social media with a false claim that it showed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu being attacked in Tel Aviv. AFP published the video over a decade ago after an attack on Ahmed Dogan, the leader of Bulgaria's ethnic Turkish party, during a conference.
