Posts whip up anti-Muslim sentiment as France reels from street violence

As nationwide student and cost-of-living rallies spilt over into violent street protests in France in October 2026, posts falsely claimed a video showed Muslim looters leaving a Parisian shop alone because its owner is also Muslim. There is nothing in the footage to support the claim, and subsequent interviews with the shop owner suggest her store was spared because she confronted the looters on her own.
