Old photos of Indian priest falsely linked to Sri Lanka monks' protests

Sri Lanka's Supreme Court overturned a presidential pardon granted to hardline Buddhist monk Galagodaatte Gnanasara in September 2026, but posts claiming the government brought in a Hindu priest to counter rituals performed by Gnanasara's supporters demanding his release share an unrelated image. The image was taken months earlier when a Hindu priest was welcomed to the island by its tourism authority.
