Old video misrepresented as Europe-inspired protests in Canada

Before representatives from Canada and the European Union met in October 2026 to discuss closer ties, social media users critical of the alliance claimed a video showed unrest in Montreal inspired by the French cost-of-living protests that have been replicated throughout the world. However, the clip was actually filmed during 2024 protests against a NATO conference in Quebec's largest city, where more recent demonstrations inspired by France have remained largely peaceful.
