AI-generated images exaggerate scale of Indonesian wildfires

Indonesia has struggled to contain fires that have scorched large tracts of Borneo and Sumatra, shrouding the country and neighbouring Malaysia and Singapore in toxic haze, but an AI-generated image circulating on social media does not accurately reflect the wildfires' spread. The image showing the wildfires spreading into Malaysian states does not correspond to satellite imagery of the fires, and the director-general of the Malaysian Meteorological Department also told AFP no wildfires have been detected in the states of Sabah and Sarawak.
