Video of blazing effigy falsely shared as Quran burning in India

After several mosques were demolished in India in September 2026, a video circulated on social media in Muslim-majority Bangladesh that falsely claimed it showed Hindu activists burning a copy of the Quran. The footage in fact shows protesters burning an effigy of the chief minister of India’s Himachal Pradesh state, accusing him of failing to fulfil election promises.
