Old protest visuals falsely linked to Nairobi solidarity march for Uganda's Besigye

Human rights activists marched through Kenya's capital Nairobi on September 3, 2026, demanding the release of detained Ugandan opposition figure Kizza Besigye. During the demonstration, social media users shared videos and a photo purportedly showing scenes from the protest. However, AFP Fact Check found the visuals were recorded during separate, unrelated marches in Kenya in 2024 and 2025.
